Vintage Indonesian Shadow Puppet Wayang Kulit c1950s

Description

Vintage, vividly painted and intricately punched, Indonesian shadow puppet.
Made from traditional leather, painted both sides and intricately punched.
Puppet is roughly 10 inches tall with arm span of about 8 inches.
Believed
to be female, representative of the "Putri Munigarim" character.
In very good condition, minor signs of use and wear; without damage.
Recently acquired in Northern Virginia. One of two available, each sold separately.
Putri Munigarim is the daughter of Nursiwan a king of Medayin from the epic Serat Menak Sasak.  Against her fathers will, Putri marries the main hero of the epic, Amir Hamzah. This gives rise to perpetual arguments between the two.
