Sony CDP-CX355 Mega CD Changer... A Shining Gem!
It's hard to find the words to describe this machine. I have worked on a lot of these Sony CDPs and have never seen one this pristine or this "new". Yes, a 2011 model is new compared to most that are available. Everything about this one puts a smile on my face. I almost want to put on a pair of white gloves before I touch it. So forgive me if I over-use the work 'perfect'.
Here are the typical steps that we follow to bring these units back to nearly new condition.
Install all 3 NEW belts (Table, Load and Door). Clean pulleys.
Disassemble, clean and lubricate mechanical assemblies. Wash disc tray in dish detergent to remove grease, dust.
Thoroughly inspect all mechanisms
Reset memory to factory (shipping) mode
Clean laser on optical drive. Check for excessive movement.
Check tray alignment and operation of positioning sensor. Adjust using oscilloscope if necessary.
Check electrical cord for damage
Examine wiring and check that all connectors are fully seated
Replace missing screws
Check fluorescent tube brightness
Run diagnostics as needed per service manual
Check audio and disc selection accuracy
Listen for skipping while playing a CD
Thoroughly clean and polish the outside case
The cleaning and polishing process removes a lot of the cosmetic scratches and scuffs, if any, from the outside of the unit. The photos will depict any significant damage we are able to see. In fact, the camera enhances tiny flaws and dust that are barely visible with the eye. This machine is USED. It is common to find scratches on the top of the case where other pieces of equipment have been. Fortunately this area is least visible when the unit is in your entertainment cabinet.
