I grew up in Billings, MT, which was near reservations where substances were readily available.  Plus I made a lot of money as a waiter at a fancy restaurant during the oil boom and was a country music station DJ.  Anyhooo.... my career took off and I used my Continental Airlines frequent flier miles to taske my new wife to Bali which was as far as they flew in the 1990's.
Montanans also don't take guided tours so I rented us a jeep (Suzuki Samaurai) and ventured out and bought this and saw the artist paint it in the village of Klungkung.  Then we went to the Sangheh Monkey forest and I got bit in the hand by a huge macacque which had a mouth like a German Shepherd.
It took me years to recover as my immune system didn't know how to handle Balinese monkey saliva.  Long story short this has lived in a trunk in the attic for 25 years.  I still love it as it tells a great story and is like a mushroom trip!
No disrespect.  This is likely the most awesome Balinese Hindu Story-Telling-Art tapestry you are ever going to come across!  None have this graphic detail or are on this scale!
